All in all you’re just another brick in the wall
Every Pink Floyd’s fan must remember the Wall’s scene when pupils were singing
We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave the kids alone
Hey, Teacher, leave us kids alone !
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.
The song was not against the education itself but against the way of education in United Kingdom, where professors are considered as divine and disciples are supposed to belong to the system and are treated as a part of a wall, which is the society, without manifesting their personalities and without any individual initiative.
It’s said that Waters had the idea of bringing a group of children to sing this part; the day after, everybody approved, all the school came and they recorded the choral within less time than he expected! No one asked, no one wondered, even the professors agreed and were excited; which supports Waters’ conception about conformism, even while revolting against conformism!
