Donnie Brasco: Fugazy, fazools, … and “Forget about it”!

Donnie Brasco It’s only last Saturday that I watched the Al Pacino’s classical “Donnie Brasco”.
In 1978, Joe (Johnny Depp), an FBI agent has infiltrated into a Brooklyn’s mafia as a jewer called Donnie, and succeeded gain the Mafiosos confidence and to pass many sensitive informations to the Bureau, putting his life and his family’s one in danger; but he could not leave in order to protect his friend Lefty from his “colleagues”.
The movie is “calm”, however it contains some extremely violent scenes that may not be appreciated by everybody. What was the most interesting for me in the movie, is the slang that I have never heard before, typically used in the end of the 70’s by the Italian gangs in New York: Fugazy, dunsky, fazools, wise guy, connected guy, made guy, etc.
My rate: 8.5/10
Forget about it!

- When I introduce you, I’m gonna say “This is a friend of mine”. That means you’re a connected guy. If I said instead; “This is a friend of ours,” that would mean you’re a made guy. Capice?
- Yeah, “Friend of mine”, “Friend of ours”. What do I call you? Friend of ours or …
- Keep your fucking mouth shut about me.

- Hey, can I ask you something?
- What?
- What’s “Forget about it”? What is that?
- “Forget about it” is like … if you agree with someone, you know? Like “Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass.” “Forget about it.” But then, if you disagree, like, “a Lincoln is better than a Cadillac”? “Forget about it.” You know? But then if also something is the greatest thing in the world, like … “Those peppers! Forget about it!” You know? It’s also like saying, “Go to hell.” like you know, “Paulie, you got a one-inch pecker.” And Paulie says “Forget about it.”. Some times it just means … forget about it.
- All right, thank you very much, I got it.
- Let me tell you something. I don’t get this boat for Lefty.
- What? Forget about it?
- Fucking forget about it.
