I touched Windows!
Another strange event that happened to me and I could not explain!
Yesterday, a friend — King Panga — had issues to access to his old NTFS disk with Windows, a permission denied alert. I suggested that he uses Knoppix, burns data and reformats the old disk but no way to do that: the data weights more than 50 GB! What was strange and I did not understand , is the way I proceeded: I clicked on menu, options, unselected simple folder sharing, allowed the admin to access to the old folders; not only that: I even helped him to create a restore check point, to get back to an old checkpoint, to import PGP, Firefox and Thunderbird preferences, etc. All this in systematical moves, as if it were routine and if I did this everyday! And on which OS? Windows!
He told me:
- I did not know you can handle Windows so well.
- I don’t, it’s you who did all this; okay? don’t pay me, don’t thank me and do not even mention what I did.
- No! You are a Windows master, I will tell everybody about it, I have an idea: I am going to create a blog just to write what I saw, and so that all your friends know about this. I only wish if I had a camera right now!
- I don’t think you should leave this place alive, let me look for a mouse to attach your hands, a network cable to hang you and a monitor to break it on your head; I prefer that the monitor shows a Blue Screen of Death; believe me, it’s more cruel that the death itself!
- Wow! you don’t seem to joke, for a while I thought you are serious.
- I still am!
I’m ashamed, confused! I know that some newbies would offer me a fortune to help them to save their data and rescue their documents, but I am not proud, it’s like the humanist lawyer (yeah, this kind of people exist) who is obliged to defend a war criminal; damn, I did worst!
Why I am writing this? I prefer to do it myself rather than another person does it.

I used to be an “expert” on that Win system, but I experienced so many problems, spywares, viruses and stupid bugs; if I moved to the Free System, then I found it less bothering than Win.
Certainly GNU/Linux has too much errors, but these errors can be easily understood and fixed.

swoby, you had an extremist manner of thinking sometimes:
Unix appears around 70’s,linux just the begin of 90’s,Windows graphical operating system around 1996 (windows NT),and as you know every system had to grow like a child and become mature.
With windows XP sp2 it’s the case,windoZE become more stable & even very stable,and many users could confirm that.
Linux is still for ‘elite’ not accessible by everybody ,so windows is the best solution for newbies or those who wants to play movies/games/songs… without having an headache when working with a system,simply they don’t need a performant system to did that since windows did it perfectly now.
I can confirm that because I use windows at the ‘maximum’ in many fields: programming,network,gaming,internet,multimedia,…
The problem now is not stability,but it is: have I to pay enough money to get a system for my PC ? I think the response no,because no one for example agrees to pay money for a car without his electronic system

For me windows is for ‘pleasure’ and quick programming
Linux is for advanced things
