Sophie Scholl
1943, the German troupes are losing in Stalingrad; the movement “The White Rose” distribute anti-fascist papers, Sofia and her brother Hans Scholl were volunteers to diffuse in Munchen University, however, they got caught by the Gestapo.
A humanist movie denouncing Nazi crimes, Sofia represents the peace, the hope, the Freedom, the tolerance to fight against dogmatics and fanatics of the National Socialist Party; her only weapon is the words, as she succeeded to convince the Gestapo inspector about Nazi crimes and paradoxes, about Hitler’s mental state, about lies and wrong propaganda of Nazi regime, the impossibility to win the War, and the rubbish of their ideology, predicting Federality, Freedom and Equality. A very emotional scene was when she told to the judge of the made up court: “Some day, you will be guilty and sit here”.
No blood, no violence, no swears, … The movie is clean, yet shocking, expressive and can not let the viewer without impressions about it in spite of the microphones and projectors that sometime appear on the top of the screen and that the camera forgot to hide.
My rate: 8/10 (I’m not tough, Tarek!)
