Apartheid — What a shame!
Having a small idea about what was Apartheid in South Africa, I have read a Wikipedia document about History of South Africa in the Apartheid Era, all what I can say is shocking and shameful.
Non-white people were considered as non-humans, and I can’t imagine how they were mistreated and not considered. Some of the point were:
- Non-whites were not allowed to run businesses or professional practices in those areas designated as ‘white South Africa’ without a permit.
- Transport and civil facilities were segregated.
- Black areas rarely had plumbing or electricity. Hospitals and ambulances were segregated.
- Higher education was provided in separate universities and colleges after 1959.
- Trains and buses were segregated. Black buses, known as “green” buses because they had a green marker on the front windscreen, stopped at black bus stops and white buses at white ones.
- Public beaches were racially segregated, with the best ones reserved for whites. Public swimming pools and libraries were also segregated. There were few black pools or libraries.
- Sex and marriage between the races was prohibited.
- Cinemas in white areas were not allowed to admit blacks. Most restaurants and hotels in white areas were not allowed to admit blacks.
- Ambulances, bridges, drive-in cinema parking spaces, graveyards, maternity wards, parks, pedestrian crossings, public toilets, taxis and theaters were also segregated.
Can a “White” person really accept this form of segregation? A black person could be easily shot, and nobody judges the shooter, a human being hunting.

Curiously, those are almost the same methods used by the Israeli State against Palestinians: Segregation, murder, chasing them out and using their wealth.
Wasn’t the fascism enough? Are people still separated according to their race, origin and color?
Unfortunately, answer is yes …
