Switching keyboard
Like almost all the Tunisians, I learned typing on an AZERTY French keyboard. Two months ago I got a U.S QWERTY with Arabic letters and decided to switch to it for:
- It’s standard
- Characters used for programming are easier to access: [{\| …
Well, regarding special characters, I have hacked on configuration files so that I can use dead keys and thus get more possibilities to make “weird” letters.
The strange thing is that, after 3 days of intensive learning, I almost forgot the AZERTY layout; that’s not a joke, I even wondered it, I had difficulties to find common symbols and always did mistakes. The same thing happened with a friend, KingPanga, who had also switched to a U.S keyboard!
Decidedly, an average human brain can not retain two different keyboards; I can’t explain this, but I experienced it.
Next step: moving to Dvorak?

Yeah, German keyboard.
I guess how much difficult is to master it.
