Happy Birthday to … me
It has been one year that I created a community portal, followed by a blog. I had not an idea about what to call the portal, I wanted to publish my ideas, articles, experiences, source codes, … besides, wanted to try new Web technologies. As I had to choose a name, and was (and still am) working on Fedora Core, I decided to call the portal Fedora Tunisia; why? I don’t know, probably because I was inspired by PHP Tunisia, although it was agonizing at that time (May Hatem pardon me). Later, I created a blog that is supposed to be independent from computing and technology stuff; well, not all the time: what I post related to technology is what I can’t publish at Fedora Tunisia. I made many friends … and some ennemies, learned new things, found out more about Internet users, but also some kind of persons I had no idea about.
One year after, did I succeed? Did I get what I was looking for?
Answer is NO!
- As for Fedora Tunisa, the site is more passive than ever! My objective was to create a community where everyone posts, comments, asks, helps, … (Almost) nobody really cares. I’m actually the only maintainer of the site.
- Regarding the blog which is supposed to be personal, I can not most of time say what I think. Too many restrictions, too much fear from something or somebody. I have so many things to write about, too many people to criticize, too many ideas to ridiculize, but after I write the post, I just change it, and publish the lyrics of the song I’m listening to, or the picture I’m looking at… Result: I could not even tell 10% of what I intend to write.
- Money, what money? If it was supposed to be commercial, I would have closed it since a long time!
I failed, but I don’t give up. I will be writing whenever it’s possible. I will keep that hope to find people that might make the portal active, and that some day, I will be able to express my thoughts, without any fear of anything, of anybody.

yup, Happy Birthday to … you.

Thanks everybody; I have to mention that it’s not my birthday, but my site’s one, which became a part of my life.
/etc: and I did well writing my posts in English! If I used French or Arabic, nobody would visit the portal, as most of Tunisians are not interested in, and most of other people don’t understand French. Let’s be universal; however, anyone can post in French, there’s no language restriction.
