Getting started with Czech cuisine: smažený sýr — Fried cheese
Who could ever think that I would talk about gastronomy?
Yes, things changed, and I found out that I have some cooking skills. My life is actually so quiet, sometimes boring, that cooking became one of my most interesting activities. It started when I roasted beef, and added some Tunisian-Italian-French condiments (let’s say Mediterranean), and the owner of my house who lives in downstairs came because he liked the odor and was curious about what was it. Tunisian traditions, I had to share my dinner. After he finished eating, he told me: “If you are no longer interested in IT field, I suggest that you open a restaurant”.
I would like to talk in this post about one of the most popular Czech dishes, smažený sýr, translated as fried cheese. It’s very easy to cook, you only need to mix cheese slices with floor and egg, add breadcrumbs (chapelure) and fry the stuff for 1 minute or less.
Fried cheese can be performed with the dutch Edam, Italian Mozzarella, but I prefer the Czech Hermelín, it looks like the French Camembert, and of course, it’s up to you to choose the condiments.
I took this picture in a nice pub in Brno, called U Zlateho Meča (At the Golden Sword), the fried cheese (Hermelín) was served with salads, herbs, orange and American potatoes, I would encourage Lobzus to try it, as it contains no murdered animal, except the possibly mistreated cow or goat. I like that pub, although the prices on the menu differ from the real prices, as even the silverware is counted as a service apart, you should expect to add 50% of the meal price, but the quality of the food compensates the “robbery”, besides, it’s not that expensive.
Another note: Having smažený sýr without the famous Czech pivo (beer) is not interesting at all, in this case, I would recommend Budvar. I will talk about Czech wines and beers later.
Dobrou chuť!

I prefer the onion soup ( and there is no animal implicated whatsoever

اصدع lol
I hate onion, and I don’t like soup (cf. Mafalda), that’s why I prefer to taste different kinds of cheese.
Cheers
