Activism in Czech Republic 2: Communists are back?

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I am following the demonstrations held in Czech Republic and especially in Brno regarding the protestation against the American missile base in Czech Republic, I think the best event was Prague’s one on March 17th.
After that, there was a small demonstration in Brno in the main square (Náměstí Svobody) but it was not that […]

Coke war: Kofola, another Czech national drink

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Czech Republic is not only famous by its variety of beers and wines, but also a coke called Kofola.
I did not pay attention all this time, as I generally don’t like coke, for the taste and the unknown composition, but I read an article on Wikipedia that changed my mind.
Kofola was created during the […]

Things I did not like in Prague

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Prices are so high, dishes prices consist of 3 digits each one, you are lucky if you find some salad for 150 CZK

Unlike in Brno, where tram tickets are sold in tobacco shops, 3 day tickets are only sold in information centers in big metro stations, which are closed on Saturday. The automates have 24 […]

Prague au cœur

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Living in Czech Republic without having time to visit Prague as a tourist is just like closing the window, turning light on while sun is shining outside!

Saturday I started to find out about a luxurious and magnificent city, my objective was to challenge Japanese tourists and to shot more than 1000 pictures, it was […]

Activism in Czech Republic — Petition Against Missile Base

Friday, March 16th, 2007

The actual issue these days in the Czech Republic is about a Petition Against Missile Base.
The United States wishes to construct a military base in the Czech Republic, which is supposed to protect the US against attack by ballistic missiles. However, this base would not protect the Czech Republic. On the contrary, it would […]

Need for foolishness

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Alexander the Great once came and stood opposite Diogenes of Sinope and said, “I am Alexander the great king.” “And I, ” said he, “am Diogenes the Cynic.” When someone was extolling the good fortune and splendor another had experienced in sharing the suite of Alexander, Diogenes said, “Not so, but rather ill fortune […]

I would like to apologize to all the people who were shocked by the terrible image below.

Who is the responsible of this massacre?

Thailand, the middle-age governing kingdom

Monday, March 12th, 2007

I once asked a Thai friend about their king and they way he is ruling, the answer was “we all love our king”. I tried to be logical and explain that he holds the fortune of the kingdom while millions live in poverty and are obliged to prostitute, she told me “yes, but he […]

South Korea considers robot ethic codes

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

An ethical code to prevent humans abusing robots, and vice versa, is being drawn up by South Korea.

The Robot Ethics Charter will cover standards for users and manufacturers and will be released later in 2007.

Reminds me some Steven Spielberg’s science fiction movie. Who would predict it would be real?

Started with Flickr

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I have just created a Flickr album. I was first thinking about Picasa one, but I did not find a nice tool on Gnu/Linux to make uploads easy, however, I liked Kflickr, easy, complete and does not require to run an emulator as Picasa for Linux does.
I had issues with some flickr on my […]

Need to keep awake

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I feel too tired but it’s not the most suitable time to sleep.
4:45 AM, 1 °C, I go outside wearing only a T-shirt, wash my face with freezing water. Is there a better way to torture oneself in order to keep awake?
