Escuchando: Alfonsina y el mar

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Alfonsina y el mar
Poema: Félix Luna
Voz: Mercedes Sosa

We don’t need no education …

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Smartness runs in my family. When I went to school I was so smart my teacher was in my class for five years.
George Burns

A definition of teaching: casting fake pearls before real swine.
Bill Cain, “Stand Up Tragedy”

A fool’s brain digests philosophy into folly, science into superstition, and art into pedantry. Hence University […]

Looking for a job

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Everything is getting hopeless and it seems that there’s no ready solution to flip over and change the situation.
When I have chosen freelance some time ago, I thought that it would give me more independence and more money. This is true, except that it’s not the right place for it.
Sometimes, I wonder whether the […]

Soccer and me

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Few weeks left before the beginning of the World Cup, and, as may a reader notice, I give absolutely no importance to soccer. I don’t know who will participate, which team will play against which other, etc. The only thing I know is that it will start in Germany in June.
However, (I speak about […]

Churchill’s dialogues

Friday, May 26th, 2006

- Lady Nancy Astor: Winston, if you were my husband, I’d poison your tea.
- Churchill: Nancy, if I were your husband, I’d drink it.

- Bessie Braddock: Sir, you are drunk.
- Churchill: And you, madam, are ugly. But in the morning I shall be sober.

- Churchill: Madam, would you sleep with me for five million […]

I want to laugh

Friday, May 26th, 2006

Unlike what might mean the title, I am not looking for a jester, I often smile and laugh whenever it’s possible after all.
I was looking for funny pictures to share them with friends, but I got the Internet White Screen of Death again! Means that the sites are blocked here…
There’s something I still can’t […]

Test de Inteligencia

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Quería agradecer a […]

Say Peace in all languages!

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Interesting to know that the Internet Internationalization (i18N) community does not only work for freedom of code and freedom of speech: They also believe in and promote Peace!
They have used Unicode  UTF-8 encoding to write peace messages in all languages; many were done and others are still awaiting contribution.
The people of the world prefer […]

Elephant Dream: An Open movie!

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Joe (and many others) writes “This month has seen the internet release of the first 3D ‘Open Movie’, Elephants Dream.” From the site:
The 3D animated short ‘Elephants Dream’ will today be released as a free and public download. This is the final stage of a successfully completed Open Movie project which has been community-financed, […]

Temperature

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

41ºC yesterday in Tunis, today temperature has decreased to 36. Unexpected heat which is not usual in May.
Is it a coincidence? In Montreal took place the UN climate conference clinches agreement. Is there a chance left to save the planet from the resource overexploit and the chemical industry?
Again, let’s hope …

Perl Poetry

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

After having worked on some billions of lines with Perl, I wanted to have fun with that language, very close to “human” English. A quick Google search gave me some crazy poems written in Perl! Yeah, I told you it’s very close.
Here are some example:

if ((light eq dark) && (dark eq light)

A lot of Peace fortunes

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

You may use’em as slogans
Listening to: No more trouble — Bob Marley, Sólo le pido a Dios — León Gieco
Dedication: For Otherz

War is not healthy for children and other living creatures.
If war is the answer, we’re asking the wrong question.
Let’s try preemptive peace.
Unilateral action has unintended consequences.
War enrages the […]
