Learning Latin

Monday, October 9th, 2006

Latin is a language,
As dead as can be.
First it killed the Romans,
And now it’s killing me.

Was Cousteau really Muslim?

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Till now, I got only rumors, and no reliable source. Jacques-Yves Cousteau never officially claimed to be Muslim, well I need a thrustworth source that affirms the theory I hear about since I was child; however, a quick search in the net results that it’s just a hoax.
True or false, that is the question.

Amazing snow!!!

Snow flakes highly magnified by a low-temperature scanning electron microscope (SEM).

Learning a language quickly

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Originally developed by Morris Swadesh in the 1940-50s, the Swadesh words list aims to determine the difference between two or more languages, in order to study the origins. It contains 207 words that are commons in most of languages: pronouns, prepositions, persons, animals, numbers, anatomy, plants, …
The list appears to has another feature, it […]

Yet another respectable blogger!

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

After some days of talk, I finally could convince a childhood friend, Kaizuko, to set up a blog. Kaizuko was discouraged at first, as had no ideas to talk about, but wrote 5 posts today, all treating interesting topics!!
Feel free to find out about the new blog called “My thoughts are my company“.
Welcome Kaizuko […]

Updated Permalink structure

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Looking for more Google ranking, I updated my permalink structure and set it to the following for posts:
http://swobodin.fedora-tn.org/archive/999
The feature is included within wordpress, but you can handle it manually using mod_rewrite.
Note that old URL structure (/?p=999) still works.

Escuchando: Mercedes Sosa — Zamba para no morir

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

How do rumors begin

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Yesterday I went to the STEG to pay the electricity bill, where aside from the electricity, gas and taxes, you must pay a fee for the Television for the awful programs they show! It was full and there were 2 queues as 2 cashiers were available, but everything was ok, as it was organized; […]

Who is the coolest blogger?

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

My answer is ^oth, Otherz, 3oth3outh or whatever nickmame you prefer, but they all reveal his true identity.
I will talk here regardless of the fact he’s an excellent friend. What I noticed through his posts and comments, is that he tries to not make anybody angry, and to be everybody’s friend, as long as […]

الوجه الآخر لجبران

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Make the difference

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

There is a little difference in people,
but that little difference makes a big difference.
The little difference is attitude.
The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.

Clement Stone

If I kiss you, that is an psychological interaction.
On the other hand, if I hit you over the head with a brick, that is also a psychological […]

Redefinition of the Reality

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Research, n.:
        Consider Columbus:
He didn’t know where he was going.
When he got there he didn’t know where he was.
When he got back he didn’t know where he had been.
And he did it all on someone else’s money.

The history of warfare is similarly subdivided, although here the phases
are Retribution, Anticipation, and Diplomacy. Thus:

Retribution:
        I’m going to […]
